Design and dance have more in common than we think

Design and dance have more in common than we think.
Both are built on creative flow and the art of transition. Both ask us to make decisions about space, timing, and emotion. 
And both begin in the body.

We’ve been curious about how movement can reset how designers think about creative flow, not just in theory, but in practice.

This is part of a growing body of work we’re currently exploring that brings designers into deeper relationship with their bodies, ideas, and creative process.

The idea is that the answer isn’t in the design tools we use or our sketchbooks but in how we MOVE through the process.

Our poll yesterday made us think about how often we hold gorgeous ideas in our heart and yet the pressure to “figure it all out” stops us before we even begin.

Before even starting SOLA we felt a huge weight of getting it right for MONTHS, and the fear of failure tempted us to make something perfect before it was even fully formed.

Beginnings should be so much softer than that.
